Vinyl Siding
Modern vinyl siding has come a long way and is now fade-resistant, impact-resistant, and maintenance-free. It's the most affordable option and works well on homes not directly exposed to ocean wind. Available in clapboard, Dutch lap, vertical board-and-batten, and shake profiles with dozens of colors.
Best for: Budget-conscious builds, sheltered locations.

Cedar & Wood Siding
Natural cedar siding brings authentic Pacific Northwest character that no synthetic material can replicate. Split cedar shingles, beveled lap siding, and board-and-batten are all available. Requires regular maintenance with staining or painting every 5-7 years, but the aesthetic payoff is worth it for homes in protected locations.
Best for: Sheltered homes wanting natural PNW character.

Engineered Wood (LP SmartSide)

Metal Panel Siding
Standing seam and corrugated metal siding for a modern industrial or contemporary coastal look. Zero moisture absorption, zero rot, zero paint peeling. Available in steel, aluminum, and copper with PVDF paint finishes that hold color for 40+ years. Aluminum is the smart choice within salt spray range.
Best for: Modern/industrial homes, direct ocean exposure.

Salt Air Corrosion
Homes within 5 miles of the ocean face accelerated corrosion on metal fasteners and flashing. We use stainless steel fasteners, galvanized flashing, and marine-grade sealants on every coastal siding job. For homes directly on the beach, we recommend aluminum nails and stainless steel trim.
Moisture Management
60-90 inches of rain drives water horizontally against your siding during wind-driven storms. Proper housewrap installation, flashing at every window and door, and a ventilated rain screen gap behind the siding are essential. We never skip the rain screen on coastal installations.
Wind Resistance
Winter storms push sustained 50-60 mph winds with gusts over 80 mph against your siding. Our fastening patterns exceed manufacturer minimums for high-wind zones. Fiber cement and metal panel siding perform best in these conditions, while vinyl can lift in extreme gusts.
UV & Fade Resistance
Coastal fog and UV exposure take a toll on paint finishes. Factory-applied finishes (ColorPlus on HardiePlank, PVDF on metal) last 2-3x longer than field-applied paint. When field painting is required, we use marine-grade exterior paints rated for coastal exposure.
Repair vs. replacement

Fix what you can.
Replace when you must.

Not every siding problem requires a full replacement. We'll assess the damage, match the existing material if possible, and give you an honest recommendation about whether repair or replacement is the smarter investment.

Spot Repair
Individual damaged boards or panels replaced. Color matching for existing siding. Patching around windows, doors, and penetrations. Typically $300-$1,500 depending on scope.
Partial Replacement
One wall or section replaced when damage is concentrated. Common after storm damage or when one exposure faces worse weather. New material matched to existing as closely as possible.
Full Replacement
Strip to the sheathing, inspect and repair any water damage, install proper housewrap and rain screen, then apply new siding. This is the time to upgrade materials, and most homeowners move from wood or vinyl to fiber cement during full replacement.
